The Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese (JFT-Basic) is a language test designed to learn and measure the Japanese language skills needed for living and working in Japan. It checks if a person can handle everyday situations and hold basic conversations. JFT follows international language standards like Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the JF Standard for Japanese Language.

The test is done on a computer, with questions displayed on-screen and audio through headphones.
